About the Author:
 
Darius Cooper (born 1949) is a poet, fiction writer, scholar and film theorist. He studied at the University of Bombay, taking a Master's in Literature and Aesthetics, and taught at SIES College from 1972 to 1980. He moved to the University of Southern California, earning a PhD in Literature and Film there in 1989. Cooper teaches courses in Critical Thinking, Humanities and Film at the Department of English at San Diego Mesa College, California. He is the author of a number of books, including Between Tradition and Modernity:The Cinema of Satyajit Ray (Cambridge University Press, 2000), In Black and White: Hollywood Melodrama and Guru Dutt (Seagull Books, 2004) and a collection of poems, Beyond the Chameleon's Skill (Poetrywalla, 2011).
