Cyrus Mistry is the fourth winner of the $50,000 DSC prize for South Asian literature at the Jaipur Literature Festival for his book “Chronicles of a Corpse Bearer”.
He began his writing career as a 
playwright, journalist and short-story writer. His play, Doongaji House, written in 1977 when he was twenty-one, has acquired seminal status in contemporary Indian theatre in English. One of Mistry’s short stories, Percy, was made into a Gujarati feature film.His plays and screenplays have won several awards. He published his first novel, The Radiance of Ashes, in 2005. Chronicle of a Corpse Bearer is his second.
Sooni Taraporevala is a screenwriter, photographer and film-maker. She is the screenwriter of Mississippi Masala, The Namesake and the Oscar-nominated Salaam Bombay (1988), all directed by Mira Nair. She also wrote the screenplay for Such a Long Journey, She directed her first feature film, based on a screenplay of her own, set in Bombay, in Spring, 2007, entitled "Little Zizou."
She was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2014.
